New Beginnings

Behold, I will do a new thing………. I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert . Isaiah 43:19

As we enter a new year, we are again reminded that God in His great mercy and “good will toward men” grants us new chances and new beginnings.

This is especially true for my new friend Ionuts who has now experienced his first holiday season at the orphanage. His sad eyes and straight lips indicate a troubled insecure past. I look forward to the time when the secure, loving atmosphere of his new home will produce a smile on his face and a sparkle in his eyes.

I was able to be present at the annual appreciation supper for the employees at the orphanage and even had the privilege to speak a few words of encouragement to them. Working with children that come from troubled homes is not an easy task but it can be very rewarding. It is an awesome opportunity to help make a difference in the lives of children that can last for a lifetime –or even for eternity.

I believe the biggest encouragement for the staff was the presentation by the young people of the Youth Transition Program in honor of those who had cared for them in the past. They sang Christmas songs, recited bible verses and played out a skit in which the final decision was that JESUS is much more important the anything the world has to offer. The youth also gave a small gift of appreciation to each of the care givers.

It was a real blessing to hear the youth sing songs about Jesus with all their hearts! If there is anything our troubled world needs it is Godly young people. Because of God’s good hand upon them and the support of His people, these children have had new chances and new beginnings – some of them even a new birth. Someone suggested that instead of Youth Transition we change the name to Youth Transformation! Thank you for your participation in planting and watering and praise be to God for giving the increase.

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. 3 John 1:4 (KJV)

Sponsorship at the Bread of Life Home is more than financial support—it is an act of faith that changes lives on both sides of the relationship. When sponsors step forward to pray for, mentor, and invest in a child, they become part of a story of hope, healing, and belonging.
