What Is the BOL Christian Center? Some dreams start small. Ours started as an impossible one — a home in Bucharest where teenagers from broken, poverty stricken backgrounds could finally have a stable place to live, grow, and become who God made them to be.
At the beginning of the journey, the word that best described these kids was helplessness. When you start life in an environment shaped by severe hardship, the future feels less like a promise and more like a threat. For the five young people in our community who graduated high school this summer, the starting line was a painful one. Behind their eyes lay realities too heavy for any child to carry: a girl who had to find her courage within an abusive family, and boys who grew up without the warm embrace of a mother. For them, education and finishing school seemed like a distant dream.
If you have ever held a newborn in your arms, you know that few moments in life can match it. Yet the Bible tells us there is one moment that does — the moment a soul is born again. Heaven itself rejoices. Recently, I experienced two such moments in a single church service.
“Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” (Ecclesiastes 4:12) This verse reflects our journey together. When God, you, and the Bread of Life team stand united, lives are changed, dignity is restored, and hope is reborn among God’s hurting people.
Elisabeth and Darius, two young souls brought together by the Bread of Life Ministry, grew up side by side, forming a sincere friendship rooted in respect and trust. Even from a young age, they believed that with God’s help, a heart committed to learning, and a willingness to walk in obedience, a better life was possible.
For many of us, the word “graduation” brings to mind robes, diplomas, and proud family photos. But for the teenagers who are part of the Bread of Life family, this moment is so much more. It marks a profound achievement, a courageous transition into adulthood, and a first real step toward independence. Their determination inspires us and fills us with joy and pride.
“Alin, I want to be part of the next water baptism.” Maria’s words caught me off guard one evening during our youth gathering at church. I did my best to respond calmly, though my heart was pounding. I hadn’t seen this coming. But to truly understand why her words were so impactful, you need to know a bit of Maria’s journey.
Darius’ Journey: A Story of Faith, Love, and Resilience Darius’ life has been shaped by resilience, unwavering faith, and the power of love. His mother passed away when he was very young, leaving a void that shaped much of his child hood. Growing up in a family that moved frequently due to financial struggles, he learned to find joy in the simple things—playing outside with friends and making the most of each moment. But everything changed when he arrived at the Bread of Life (BOL) Home.
Building Homes for Vulnerable Youth Anywhere you go in the world, transitioning from the dependence of childhood to the independence of adulthood is a major challenge. Today, one of the greatest “gaps” in global orphan care is serving a child during this critical period.
We want you to know how deeply grateful we are for your vital role in Bread of Life Ministries. Your prayers and sacrificial support have been, and continue to be, a lifeline to families, widows, the elderly, and countless children in need across Eastern Europe.
