The Reward of Perseverance

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season

we shall reap, if we faint not. Galatians 6:9

September is the busiest time of the year at the Bread of Life Children’s Home in Brosteni, Romania. The summer school vacation is over, and we get the children ready for a new school year.

Each year comes with unique challenges, especially when we have new children in our family. At the beginning and end of each school year, we labor with dedication hoping that our efforts will impact the children and their path in life.

At times we might get weary or disappointed when things do not progress quickly, but we perseveringly continue shaping our dear children. We confess that things do not seem to be evolving at times, and we feel the difficulty of reshaping characters, bad habits or compensating for learning disabilities.

We go through this process every year, and as school ends in June, we are amazed to see that our educational expectations are met and exceeded by our children. With great joy in our hearts, we participate in their graduation events. Seeing the excitement in their eyes is a unique emotional sight. They are happy to show our staff that all their efforts paid off.

With each year, our little ones grow older, coming closer to the dream we have for their life. Seeing their efforts appreciated by the local school that gives them a diploma or a little medal is just another encouragement for them. Those children who felt they would always be a failure and good for nothing now see that dedication and hard work change perspectives.

As the children’s pastor at the BOLCH, I wish to acknowledge the input that leads to the success stories of our children. These are not isolated efforts but the efforts of all the people involved in this ministry. The joy our children feel as they make progress in life is the joy of our tutors, volunteers, sponsors, and management team, and most of all, the pleasure of our heavenly Father.

Help Us Prepare for a Warm Winter As spring arrives in the mountains of Broșteni, Romania, we are already looking ahead to the next winter. For most of us, staying warm is as simple as turning up the thermostat or paying the gas bill. But for the children at the Bread of Life Children’s Home, we must prepare for warmth—months in advance.

Darius’ Journey: A Story of Faith, Love, and Resilience Darius’ life has been shaped by resilience, unwavering faith, and the power of love. His mother passed away when he was very young, leaving a void that shaped much of his child hood. Growing up in a family that moved frequently due to financial struggles, he learned to find joy in the simple things—playing outside with friends and making the most of each moment. But everything changed when he arrived at the Bread of Life (BOL) Home.

Let’s Help Iustina Have a Future Blessed be the Lord, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications. Psalm 28:6 On April 26, Iustina Lăcrămioara Ciurcu will turn 12 years old. She is the eldest child in her family, with two younger brothers, Casian and Nicolas. Her parents, Laura and Costel, faced many hardships growing up in a children’s care center. But now, they do their best to provide a home for their children in a small, rented apartment furnished with only the essentials for daily life.
