Vans for Refugee Matching Project

The last weeks have been difficult for many, but often God uses hard times to bring about good. The crisis in Ukraine opened the door to a new ministry for Bread of Life, and you are helping make it possible. We appreciate all your involvement and the dedication of our BOL team and volunteers.

For several weeks since the war started, Bread of Life has been on the front line delivering food into Ukraine and assisting refugees in Romania. This new ministry involves complex logistics, purchasing high amounts of food, medicine, and hygiene items and then delivering these items.

One need that we are helping with is transportation for refugees. Due to the urgency of the need, we had to act immediately. We sent two of our BOL vans, one to a refugee facility with 70+ mothers and children and another to Ukraine for a local ministry to use to transport people from war zones and other cities.

The children at BOL nicknamed one of the vans the “LT.” The children growing up at the BOL Children’s Home in Brosteni have many memories of this van. The LT was a faithful partner and held the record for the number of children transported in our ministry. It is hard to say goodbye to the LT, but there is no greater service than saving people, and the children are glad that LT will help others.   Poz2A1

As I mentioned earlier, God often uses hard things to bring good. We believe that is what he is doing here. Our willingness to give what we had has presented us with a problem but also with a solution. Giving our vans to the refugees created a loss of transportation for our children. God’s solution-two ministries stepped up to assist us with replacing our vans by providing a matching fund project. Each ministry will cover half the cost of a van if we can raise the other half.

Will you help us raise this match? We need a total of $25,000 to receive the match for the two vans.

Through this matching project, we meet the needs of our brothers and sisters in Ukraine and the children at BOL.

For many of us, the word “graduation” brings to mind robes, diplomas, and proud family photos. But for the teenagers who are part of the Bread of Life family, this moment is so much more. It marks a profound achievement, a courageous transition into adulthood, and a first real step toward independence. Their determination inspires us and fills us with joy and pride.

Each fall, children approach the first day of school with nervous anticipation or eager excitement. As a child, I loved school. I remember preparing with a list in hand, carefully choosing pencils and notebooks. We weren’t wealthy, but my parents always found a way. Sadly, many children in Romania don’t get to experience that joy. For them, choosing school supplies or packing a backpack is out of reach. Without basic tools, some can’t attend school at all—missing the education that could shape their future.
