Darius’ Journey: A Story of Faith, Love, and Resilience

Darius’ life has been shaped by resilience, unwavering faith, and the power of love. His mother passed away when he was very young, leaving a void that shaped much of his childhood. Growing up in a family that moved frequently due to financial struggles, he learned to find joy in the simple things—playing outside with friends and making the most of each moment. But everything changed when he arrived at the Bread of Life (BOL) Home.

The transition was overwhelming at first. BOL provided structure, rules, and expectations—so different from the life he had known. Feeling lost, Darius faced the challenge of adjusting to a new way of living. Yet, with time, he found comfort in BOL’s stability and consistency. His positive outlook helped him see even difficulties as opportunities to grow.

With the support of those around him, Darius discovered a sense of belonging at BOL. Life there was far more stable than he had experienced before, and he quickly realized the importance of faith in his journey. Encouraged by mentors and friends to stay involved in church, he began to see BOL as more than just a home—it was a place that nurtured his spiritual growth and helped him develop a deeper relationship with God.

Some of Darius’ fondest memories from his time at BOL include trips to Suceava, summer camps, and visits from mission teams. These experiences shaped his childhood, filling it with joy and meaningful connections that would stay with him forever.

A new chapter began when Darius moved to Bucharest to join the Youth Transition Program (YTP). He embraced the opportunity excitedly, explore new experiences, and build lifelong friendships. The program provided him with the tools to navigate adulthood, preparing him for a future filled with purpose.

Faith had always been part of his upbringing, but it wasn’t until the past few years that Darius truly grasped what it meant to follow Christ. His relationship with God deepened gradually, shaping him into the man he is today—humble, trusting, and deeply grateful for the blessings in his life. Recently, he took a bold step in his faith by publicly declaring his commitment to Christ through baptism, which solidified his journey of trust and obedience to God.

One of the greatest blessings in Darius’ life has been his relationship with Eliza. They first met at BOL as children, but their friendship didn’t become something more until years later, during their time in the YTP. Their shared experiences helped them understand one another, strengthening their bond. Darius deeply admires Eliza’s maturity and serious approach to life—qualities that deepen his love for her and give them a strong foundation for their future together.

Looking ahead, Darius dreams of building a family rooted in faith, love, and stability. He envisions raising children with the same values that shaped him, striving to be a loving husband and father who leads his family in God’s ways.

To those on a similar journey, Darius offers this encouragement: Trust in God and always put others’ needs before your own. With faith, dedication, and love, anyone can overcome their past and build a future full of hope and promise.

“For I was hungry and you gave me food... I was a stranger and you welcomed me...” — Matthew 25:35 ESV This past February marked four years since the war dramatically changed the lives of millions of people in Ukraine. The world’s response has shifted over time — some still remain deeply engaged, while others have found it difficult to stay connected as the conflict continues.

Every day, elderly men and women in the Broșteni, Romania area who have no one to care for them receive a hot meal delivered right to their door. Along with the food comes a warm greeting, a listening ear, and a helping hand from Iosif, who faithfully travels nearly 15 kilometers by bicycle each day, regardless of the weather. For the elderly he visits, the meal meets a practical need, but the visit itself often means even more. It is a reminder that they are seen, valued, and not forgotten. What makes these daily visits especially meaningful is the story of the young man making them.

If you have ever held a newborn in your arms, you know that few moments in life can match it. Yet the Bible tells us there is one moment that does — the moment a soul is born again. Heaven itself rejoices. Recently, I experienced two such moments in a single church service.
