Help Us Prepare for a Warm Winter

Help Us Prepare for a Warm Winter
As spring arrives in the mountains of Broșteni, Romania, we are already looking ahead to the next winter. For most of us, staying warm is as simple as turning up the thermostat or paying the gas bill. But for the children at the Bread of Life Children’s Home, we must prepare for warmth—months in advance.

Our home, nestled along the Bistrița River, is a refuge for children who have already endured so much. A place where they find safety, love, and the promise of a better future. But fulfilling this promise comes with many challenges, such as keeping 90 rooms warm and ensuring hot water through the long, unforgiving winter.

Here, winter is not just a season—it’s a way of life. It arrives early, often in September, and lingers well into May. And because our home depends entirely on firewood to fuel the heating furnace, our work to secure warmth must begin in spring.

The process is long and labor-intensive. First, we must order the wood while supplies last. Then comes the cutting, the drying, and the storing—so that when autumn arrives, we are fully prepared for the cold months ahead.

Right now, we have a special opportunity. A local supplier has offered us firewood at a reduced price—only $88 per cubic meter. We need 100 cubic meters to keep the children warm next winter.

Will you be one of the 100 heroes who ensure these children don’t go cold?

Your gift of $88 will secure one cubic meter of firewood, directly providing heat and hot water for the children through the harsh mountain winter. Every log stacked now is a promise that no child in our care will shiver in the cold. Every donation is a shield against the freezing temperatures that will soon return.

Together, we can ensure these children—our children— have a safe, warm home in which to grow, heal, and dream.

Give today. Because no child should have to face winter without heat.

With gratitude,
