A Day On The Mission Field

I am starting this article as I am stopped on the side of the road between deliveries to two villages. With me is Catalin, one of our YTP boys. It is late now and I think back on our journey that started out 12 hours ago In Bucharest. We left very early, the truck filled with clothing, blankets, food supplies, hygiene items, and cleaning products destined for multiple Feeding Centers in Romania. Their supplies on hand for helping the poor in their village were getting low. With the exceptionally harsh winter, supplies are depleted quickly. We had an ambitious plan of delivering to four main rendezvous points where we would transfer our load to local area coordinators who would supply the Feeding Centers they oversee. It has been 7 hours since our last stop, but we wanted to meet up with my dad [Uncle Adi] to switch vehicles so he could use the truck to get a donation of animal feed for the little farm we operate near the Orphanage. We were trying to be efficient stewards of ministry resources. Thinking back on the day’s events, it seemed that Satan wanted to block our path. We know why he is called “your enemy the Devil”[1 Pet 5:8]. Earlier today, an old car slid into our truck tire. No one was hurt and the only damage was to her car. We lost about an hour and I remember telling Catalin we would probably not have time to stop for lunch but would get something after 5pm when the deliveries were completed. Between the second and third stops we came upon a large truck which had slid out and was blocking the road. I told Catalin we could still make it, but I was not as confident as I sounded. We made it to the 3rd and 4th stops late. The people at the last Feeding Center were well organized and had a few volunteers from the village to help us unload. We were all happy that the clothes that traveled all the way from the US were finally reaching those in need, along with food, hygiene products, blankets, etc. Uncle Adi called to say he was delayed because his tire blew out on a bumpy road. I am glad my young traveling companion is asleep since the food stop I promised him hours ago will have to wait. Still we are happy and I guess he is having good dreams. Such things are just a bend in the road and we thank God and appreciate His love and protection that helped us make it. We trust Him to be with us as we resume the journey back to Bucharest, which is still 7 hours away.

In the end, we did meet up with my dad and finally got back to Bucharest, a long day on the “mission field” finally over. We thank God for giving us success and protection. To God be the glory for all that He does.

Help Us Prepare for a Warm Winter As spring arrives in the mountains of Broșteni, Romania, we are already looking ahead to the next winter. For most of us, staying warm is as simple as turning up the thermostat or paying the gas bill. But for the children at the Bread of Life Children’s Home, we must prepare for warmth—months in advance.

Darius’ Journey: A Story of Faith, Love, and Resilience Darius’ life has been shaped by resilience, unwavering faith, and the power of love. His mother passed away when he was very young, leaving a void that shaped much of his child hood. Growing up in a family that moved frequently due to financial struggles, he learned to find joy in the simple things—playing outside with friends and making the most of each moment. But everything changed when he arrived at the Bread of Life (BOL) Home.
