Four Years in the War Zone: Ukraine Ministry Report
“For I was hungry and you gave me food... I was a stranger and you welcomed me...”

This past February marked four years since the war dramatically changed the lives of millions of people in Ukraine. The world’s response has shifted over time — some still remain deeply engaged, while others have found it difficult to stay connected as the conflict continues.
We understand those tensions. But as followers of Christ, we do not face this war from a political position — we face it from a biblical one. Jesus called us to serve the hurting. And so we do.
Our BOL food trucks serve hot meals each day in southern Ukrainian cities — not far from the front lines — providing displaced families, widows, and elderly people with something they can count on: a daily meal. But our local team does not stop with feeding the body. Every meal is an open door, every conversation an opportunity to point someone toward Christ. Meeting physical needs has always been part of the Gospel witness. As James reminds us:
“Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food... but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?”
— James 2:15–16 NIV
We feed first because often love must be seen before it can be heard. This simple truth guides our ministry in Ukraine. Every meal communicates dignity, and every conversation creates an opportunity to share the hope found in Christ. Winning souls for Jesus motivates the team’s efforts and makes every risk worth it.
Many come and go through our food lines, but some stories you don’t forget. An older man began showing up regularly at one of our food trucks — he was quiet, consistent, and grateful. Over time, volunteers realized he was sleeping on the streets and suffering from tuberculosis. We didn’t look away. He was placed in the ministry shelter home — a place of warmth, dignity, and hope.
What began as a bowl of food became a roof over his head and a sense of belonging. Today, he has a safe place to sleep and a community that cares for him. This is what our ministry partners in Ukraine do every day: they follow people through the door that food opens.
We pray this war ends soon — for the sake of every mother, child, widow, and elderly person who has endured far too much. But until that day, we will remain. We will feed. We will preach. We will serve. And we need you with us.
