Sharing Love

Recently, I heard the lyrics of a gospel song titled, “Love, Love, Love”. In the chorus, there was a line that referred to love being “the one thing we all could use more of.” What a sobering thought, could it be possible that “LOVE” alone could be what our world really needs the most?  It seems a simple thing, but when you consider it, the thought rings of truth.

God is LOVE, and love is what we need! As I pondered over this idea, I began to think of Jesus and how he spread love throughout his ministry.   I thought about our Savior and what he did for us.  His entire life leading up to his death was filled with love.  Love for the sick, love for the poor, love for the stranger, and love for the children.

IMG-20181103-WA0026 LOVE was what brought him to earth, to live and die for me and for you. He laid down his life showing the greatest love ever.   “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”  (John 15:3 KJV) LOVE carried him to the cross, LOVE held him on the cross, but most importantly, LOVE brought him back to life, so that through his death we too might live.

This Easter help us as we reach out to widows and children, the poor and lonely; those who need to hear and experience what true love is all about.  Help us show the same LOVE Jesus demonstrated,  “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8 KJV)

Thank you for your gifts. They help us show love on a daily basis as we reach out to rescue those in peril, assist those struggling, and teach the love of Christ by example to all we come in contact with

“For I was hungry and you gave me food... I was a stranger and you welcomed me...” — Matthew 25:35 ESV This past February marked four years since the war dramatically changed the lives of millions of people in Ukraine. The world’s response has shifted over time — some still remain deeply engaged, while others have found it difficult to stay connected as the conflict continues.

Every day, elderly men and women in the Broșteni, Romania area who have no one to care for them receive a hot meal delivered right to their door. Along with the food comes a warm greeting, a listening ear, and a helping hand from Iosif, who faithfully travels nearly 15 kilometers by bicycle each day, regardless of the weather. For the elderly he visits, the meal meets a practical need, but the visit itself often means even more. It is a reminder that they are seen, valued, and not forgotten. What makes these daily visits especially meaningful is the story of the young man making them.

If you have ever held a newborn in your arms, you know that few moments in life can match it. Yet the Bible tells us there is one moment that does — the moment a soul is born again. Heaven itself rejoices. Recently, I experienced two such moments in a single church service.
