Gathering in Summer

The weather here in Alabama, where we live, is hot, so talking about cold weather now may sound a little unusual, but now is the time for the BOLCH to start purchasing firewood for the coming cold winter. It takes a lot of wood to heat the large building, and that wood has to be cut, split, and dried so that it will do a proper job come winter. I remember the first winter we visited the orphanage; the temperatures were below zero, and the curtains blew with the drafts that came in around them, not pleasant for a southern girl who doesn’t like the cold. Even with their heat, the building was cold, and the children lived with this every day. That was several years ago, and I am glad to say that this past winter was one of our warmest winters. God gave us milder winter weather so our firewood would last and keep our building warm, and the generosity of our supporters, provided the completion of the new window project to keep the draft out.

But now we must start working on firewood for the coming winter. It will take about ten loads of logs to heat the BOLCH from September through May of 2021. That’s about $6,000 worth of firewood needed for our BOLCH, the windows and elderly who look to us for assistance, and the feeding centers in the poor villages. Would you prayerfully consider helping with the firewood project? Pray that God will again supply this need and ask him what you can do to help us be prepared for the coming winter with a good supply of cut, chopped, and dried firewood.
