Night was falling in the bustling city of Bucharest on Dec.12th, and for most residents there, it was “life as usual.” But for four young people (Eliza, Nicoleta, Nicu and Andreea) from “BOL Youth Transition,” it was a special evening. There was, no doubt, some trepidation mixed with excitement and deep joy and peace as they approached the small Vestea Buna (Good News) church. They had been there many times before, but tonight it was different. The time had finally arrived when they would publicly declare their faith in and commitment to The Lord Jesus Christ through baptism.

Unfortunately, due to the language difference, I didn’t understand much of the service as the youth, dressed in white, sat up front facing the congregation, after which they were one by one baptized upon the confession of faith. As I personally spoke with one of them afterward, it was so thrilling to hear her express her deep inner joy. (The world offers so many things but delivers so little).

Taking children in and caring for them is not like a short sprint but a long-term marathon. To be successful, it takes much patience and teamwork. The Apostle Paul says, “some plant, some water, but God gives the increase.”

My heart wells up with gratitude to all who have been and continue to be a part of promoting the Kingdom of God this way! A special thank you to all who work together to give these unprivileged children this wonderful opportunity. The ones who spend time praying, the ones who contribute time and finances. The (on the ground) staff who care for the children daily, and the management team who takes care of so many (behind the scenes) things.

The Lord richly bless you all as we work together in his vineyard.

For many of us, the word “graduation” brings to mind robes, diplomas, and proud family photos. But for the teenagers who are part of the Bread of Life family, this moment is so much more. It marks a profound achievement, a courageous transition into adulthood, and a first real step toward independence. Their determination inspires us and fills us with joy and pride.

Each fall, children approach the first day of school with nervous anticipation or eager excitement. As a child, I loved school. I remember preparing with a list in hand, carefully choosing pencils and notebooks. We weren’t wealthy, but my parents always found a way. Sadly, many children in Romania don’t get to experience that joy. For them, choosing school supplies or packing a backpack is out of reach. Without basic tools, some can’t attend school at all—missing the education that could shape their future.
