Nourishing Hope, Transforming Lives

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat,

I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,

I was a stranger and you invited me in.”

Matthew 25:35

Have you ever felt the depths of hunger that gnaws relentlessly at the soul? It’s a feeling that lingers, haunting memories.

As stewards in a ministry rescuing and sheltering children, we’ve encountered heart-wrenching scenes. Witnessing children unfamiliar with basic staples like rice or pasta is poignant.

Their expressions, discovering these simple foods for the first time, tell stories of deprivation beyond our comprehension.

Yet, in two decades and over 400 children passing through our care, we stand as living testaments to God’s miracles. Not a single missed meal or night spent hungry, thanks to brothers and sisters in Christ with generous hearts who sacrificed to ensure the Bread of Life children received food, clothes, and education.

Our journey to combat hunger continues. Recent encounters have left us speechless and in tears. During our food deliveries, a friend shared the harrowing hunger levels experienced in war-torn Ukraine.

An older man, desperate and ashamed, turned his back to the delivery team to eat raw rice and vegetables on the spot due to severe hunger. Witnessing such pain makes it impossible to return to everyday life.

This burden now demands to be shared with God’s people – a plea to be the voice for the voiceless and a conduit for God’s miracles. The world’s attention on the war-torn regions of Eastern Europe has waned, but the need for compassion and sustenance remains dire. We implore you to join us in championing the cause of God’s hurting people.

Consider becoming a vital part of our feeding programs in Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, and Moldova. By addressing the basic needs of the least among us, we open their hearts to God’s word and salvation.

Your donation to our Brother’s Keeper program, whether big or small, is used faithfully and wisely. Together, we persist in fighting hunger for God’s glory, one person at a time. Join us in nourishing hope and transforming lives.

Winter in our region is long and bitterly cold. Snow, ice, and freezing temperatures make even the simple walk to school difficult — especially for children who only have thin summer shoes. At Bread of Life Children’s Home, we are dedicated to meeting the daily needs of the children in our care. During the winter months, heating, utilities, and food become urgent priorities. At times, because of these pressing expenses, replacing personal items like clothing or shoes must wait. Yet even in these moments, we see God working quietly behind the scenes.

In northeastern Romania, in Botoșani County, winter does not ask if anyone is ready. It comes suddenly and harshly, with long nights and a cold that seeps into the bones. For many elderly people in isolated villages, each day is a silent struggle — with the cold, with scarcity, with loneliness. Pensions are small, help is rare, and the silence inside their homes feels heavier than the frost outside. In Baranca, Hudești commune, we entered a home that has stayed with us. An almost 80-year-old man, struggling to stay mobile and weakened by illness, lives in very difficult conditions. Yet he is not alone — he cares for his 50-year-old son with a disability, completely dependent on him. A frail father who can barely move continues to carry the weight of caring for his child.

In March, spring begins to appear across America. Days grow longer. Temperatures rise. But in Eastern Europe, winter often lingers — and this year it has been one of the longest and harshest in recent memory. As winter stretches on, the hardest reality sets in. Food reserves are gone. Firewood is nearly finished. Strength is fading. What should be a season of transition instead becomes a test of endurance.
