Camping with the family

As the school year draws to an end each year the children at the Bread of Life children’s home become understandably excited. While the older children are taking their final exams, we take the younger ones to a week long Bible camp. For most of them it is the only time that they leave our little village. The look of excitement and joy on the faces of the kids who are going for the first time is priceless. This year, Miruna, Stefan, and Raluca were new. They are siblings, but in the tiIMG_1310-2me they have lived at the orphanage they have become part of the greater family which includes everyone. Even the staff look forward to camp week as we enjoy the beautiful nature that God made for us all. It is a spiritual experience with singing, praying, and Bible stories. The children are encouraged to recognize and imitate good role models from each day’s Bible story. The camp experience can be memorable for any child, but it is especially meaningful to our children who come from such poor and dysfunctional backgrounds. To spend such quality time with them and bond with them as a family is truly priceless. These are things they will always remember.
